چکیده

Geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) are often used as anti-seepage systems in landfills and at the bottom of tailing ponds. The performance GCL will change under different temperatures. In this study, bentonite was mixed with test solutions temperatures to measure basic indexes components analyze permeability. composition micro-structure were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, fluorescence spectrum, SEM, rule permeability property mine leachates understood combining macro-measured parameters microscopic analysis results. research results indicate that fluid loss two bentonites increased increasing temperature due inhibition ion exchange between mixture temperature. swelling index high showed increase pore size attributed temperature, uneven distribution resulted intrinsic study would provide reference for application mining.

Hydraulic Conductivity of Geosynthetic Clay Liners to Low-Level Radioactive Waste Leachate

Hydraulic conductivity was evaluated for eight commercially available geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs) permeated with leachate characteristic of low-level radioactive waste (LLW) disposal facilities operated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Two of the GCLs (CS and GS) contained conventional sodium bentonite (Na-B). The others contained a bentonite–polymer mixture (CPL, CPH, GPL1, GPL2, an...

Comparison Of Hydraulic Conductivity Test Methods for Landfill Clay Liners

Accurately measuring the in situ hydraulic conductivity (permeability) of a clay liner is a major factor in the construction of landfill containment systems. Laboratory and large-scale field test methods are often utilized on test pads constructed prior to placement of the production liner to determine the hydraulic conductivity of the clay. While these test methods provide reliable results, th...
